Greetings and welcome to Living Systems at UCSB!

 

We are a group of first-year graduate students in the Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology Department at UC Santa Barbara. In classes and amongst ourselves, we’ve discussed the importance of science communication and practicing the skills that make an effective communicator. So we thought we’d give it a try, here on a new blog!

 

We’re going to cover a variety of topics and share photos from our lives as researchers and residents of Santa Barbara:

 

     Research: This is where we’ll discuss our research interests, projects underway, or papers just released.

 

     Grad Life: From the application process to the planning of a research project, we’ll describe about our journey to and through graduate school.

     Variety Hour: This section will include posts about fun experiences, opinions on controversial topics, and alternative forms of expression.

 

     News and Pop Sci: What’s happening in the world around us? We’ll talk about current events and cool recent papers in popular science.
